What Indya needs to do !?

Short answer: Many things :)
What i wanted to focus on this blog is few of the key things that will make a big difference to Indya.

1. SSN (Social Security Number) for everyone - Well, if you have been US or any of the european countries, you would have known the importance of such unique number for all the citizens. for the unstarted, this is a killer number, you just need make it mandatory at the transactions we need to monitor.
In India, we have a multitude of such numbers - PAN for tax, voter id for voting. Thankfully, only 2 of these are the big ones. Infact, we started voter id for a while and this had a fair success. I think we stopped because the so-called bahoo wali politicians were getting screwed. And it wont happen overnight or without the political will to do it.
So, as citizen (the regular mundane lot), we need to create a difference by creating enough momentum to this thought. Once, we have SSN, just like PAN number has made a big difference to the tax collection, it will make difference to do many great things like reduce crime, give all an identity, voice and freedom etc. More on this later. But you know this will make a difference.

2. Ban VHP, BJP
- i really fail to understand how we tolerate these folks. For the unconvinced, please see the documentary "Final Solution" on Gujrat riots. this movie is banned in Indya for reasons you will know when you watch this. Check it out @

or download it from thepiratebay.org.

3. Adopt Linux - Indya, like all developing countries, needs to adopt this than paying some hefty M$ tax. And well, not so much with M$ tax, its do with adopting something thats more futuristic, needs more talent, helps develop more talent within the country.

SSN...hmm not a good idea.
Tehincally it will streamline things for the collared thieves and put all the freedom loving idians under a scanner.

VHP..hmm divided on it.
Freedom of speech is good. Its like a third front that curves other active groups. Still kinda debatable issue.

Linux..mixed opinion on it.
Linux needs to make it self far more userfriendly, but by that time the likes of google and microsoft will be up with far better systems.

Social security may not be a GREAT idea. But a number identifying every Indian citizen and linking all financial transactions, bank accounts and employments etc. to it is a great idea.

Those who do the right thing in India are already under a scanner and without freedom. They don't evade their taxes because they can't morally afford it. They cannot fill a wrong address while filling a credit card or a loan application. So, when the loan company heads into bankrupcy, they are the only ones left with the burden of paying the creditors. In nutshell, all the honest people are living or (unknowingly) want to live under the scanner. If SSN can make other dishonest people honest, I am sure they will love to share their burden. As far as the collared thieves, any system that can reduce the number of such people should be welcome. And yes, the shopkeepers, the private business persons, the subsidy enjoying farmers and such freedom enjoying indians, won't love this because now they can't avoid taxes, cooking their books.

Ban VHP, BJP - Blanket ban is never a good idea. And in any case you have to ask what are you banning. We need to be more specific than that in laying down the law as to what is allowed as freedom of speech and what is not. e.g. No-one or no party should be allowed to attack the secularism and the unity of the country in words or action. I believe the laws are in place but there is no political will to implement them. And that's where the problem lies. We as voters need to make that political will stronger. Now that there is web, which means more communication, people in India should know better than before what is good and bad for them and country and should act accordingly.
On Linux I rest my case. I am sure it will become good enough that no force will be required to adopt it.
