How opinions change

In late 2007, I wrote this post about things India needs to do. These, at that time, were my strong views on things that would make a big difference to India. Noteworthy to mention that I was in the US at that time and looking at things from the foreign media lens plus anything local I could get at that time. This is the link to the older blog.. https://indyalogy.blogspot.com/2007/10/what-indya-needs-to-do.html I pointed out in that blog that below three would make a big big difference. Today, I am going to re-visit these and may be able to appreciate the difference in opinion from then (2007) to now (2020). 1. Social Security Number 2. Ban VHP, BJP 3. Adopt Linux Let me address these in order and share my opinion today.... 1. India's version of SSN is Aadhaar . It does not come with a social security like the SSN in the US. But, I meant of SSN as a way to do transactions with government. An identifier for the citizens that they can us to open a bank account, file taxes, trade in s

My goals on the vedic astrology journey

In the previous post, I wrote about starting my journey in the quest of vedic astrology . Below is a series of milestones that I would like to complete in this regard. By end of 2020: Define the field to specialize in. I would continue to get deeper into the astrology, understanding the fundamentals, the branches etc. At this time, I know I am more keen on making predictions relating in the community astrology rather than horoscope, match making, or predicting random events. Thats the one thing to validate and determine what it would take to get there. By end of Mar 2021: learn the Sanskrit language. As has been said and because of my own primary level experience learning Sanskrit, I know that the subtleties of this language far exceeds any other. Even if I dont pick up a book written totally in Sanskrit, I am going to have to read many shalokas in Sanskrit. Creating one's own interpretations of the original text is important to not become a copy cat and really add value to the sub

2020 - the year my tryst with Vedic Astrology begins ...

2020 is going to be a transformational year for every one, every country. Everyone knows that. It seemed to be going well until Covid19 happened. Economy got shutdown, flights got stranded, shops got closed, offices got into WFH mode et. al.. As things now start to unlock a little bit (nearly end of May), it is important to reflect upon the next set of trajectories for oneself. Here is mine.. I have been watching a number of videos on various topics. But astrology has really caught my fancy. Well, it fascinates many, it fascinated me earlier as well. This time around, I am actually going to do something about it. There are many reasons for doing it and doing it now. India has a wealth of astrological knowledge and from all evidence points to this knowledge being comprehensive, scientific, and complete. Astrology in India suffers from detachment or hate by the newer generations - perhaps due to the oriental influence in our education. There is a need to provide a scientific basis to th

19 Opportunities with Covid19

“The Chinese use two brush strokes to write the word 'crisis.' One brush stroke stands for danger; the other for opportunity. In a crisis, be aware of the danger--but recognize the opportunity.” ― John F. Kennedy Globally, there is only one thing that all of us are talking about these days and that is - the crisis created by the new novel coronavirus named COVID19.  This is what shows up topmost and for the most part in the newsfeed, on the WhatsApp and other social channels. This is for the right reasons, of course. World Health Organization (WHO) has already called it a pandemic. Countries including China, Korea, Iran, Italy have been widely impacted by the virus and taken drastic steps to control the spread.  As of date (6th April, 2020) below are the analytics on MoHFW.gov.in and these are super concerning to all. India, though has seen 109 deaths, things have not spread super widely as yet, compared to other countries. The Indian go
